Electricity networks are evolving in order to integrate distributed energy resources—DER (distributed energy resource; especially from renewable sources)—and take advantage of the different services/products these can offer including flexibility services.
Electricity networks form the backbone of dependable and affordable power systems and also significantly support the commencement of renewable generation. The significance of distribution and transmission networks has to be well understood by policy makers and controllers to maintain the sensitive balance within the policy triangle of trustability, affordability and sustainability as power systems fleetly change.
